EquipmentEco Barge The Eco Barge is perfect for beach landings with her flat hull and the landing pontoon on the back deck for easy access from the beach to the barge also suited as a dive platform. All passengers can sit down with seats along both sides of the hull. She is powered by 2 x 40 Yamaha 4 stroke outboards. The Eco Barge has a top speed of 20 knots and a cruising speed of 16 knots. This enables us to reach any beach within the Whitsunday region and complete a full beach clean up and return in one day, generally from 8am to 4pm. Nissan six tonne dump truck Eco Barge Service's dump truck is for transporting the collected marine debris to either Proserpine Dump or Cannonvale transfer station where we recycle as much of the marine debris as possible and deposit the remainder of the debris into the general waste area. The dump truck can take up to 2 tonnes and a maximum of 8 cubic meters of waste. The dump truck has a tipper tray which we appreciate after collecting, recording, sorting and then when we arrive at the tip we can just lift the tray to dump the marine debris. Eco Ranger The Eco Ranger is a 60 foot catamaran with a utility aft deck capable of 20 cubic meters of marine debris storage. Eco Ranger has three cabins and sleeps six comfortably. She has a working commercial galley, roomy lounge area and a large toilet & shower room. She can carry up to 22 passengers and is built for long range marine debris removal projects. Eco Ranger is powered by 2 x 100 horsepower Yamaha four stroke outboards and has a cruising speed of 20 knots. She is perfect for beach landings to help with the loading of marine debris and equipment. Eco Barge Services Office Our office is based at Edges Boat Yard in the heart of the Whitsundays, Airlie Beach. This is where all the administration side of Eco Barge Services takes place, please feel free to call Libby if you would like to make a booking (07) 4946 5198 or her mobile 0417642815. Marine Debris Sorting Shed. Eco Barge Services is currently building a marine debris sorting shed at our site at Edges Boat Yard, to be completed by 1/03/2010. This shed is where we count, sort, weigh and document every piece of marine debris our precious volunteers and crew pick up. We enter this data into a marine debris data base. Here at the sorting shed we keep any pieces of marine debris that might be of interest to the general public who can buy the marine debris, nets, rope and fishing balls for $10 a kilo this is then put back into our operational costs. The marine debris sorting shed is also a good place to help educate the public on marine debris and its devastating effects on our marine life. There will be educational material available to for visitors to read and take this home with them. | ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
